DOGE to Visit CIA to Discuss Efficiency
Elon Musk is scheduled to visit the CIA to explore ways to improve government efficiency, the agency has confirmed.
According to a CIA spokesperson, Director John Ratcliffe extended an invitation to Musk “to meet with him at the Agency to discuss government efficiency.”
Since the start of President Trump’s second term, Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have been aggressively reshaping the federal government, implementing widespread buyouts and significant layoffs.
Musk defended his approach during a Fox News appearance last week, emphasizing a thoughtful strategy behind the overhaul.
“I do agree that we actually want to be careful in the cuts,” Musk stated on Thursday. “So, we want to measure twice, if not thrice, and to cut once. And actually, that is our approach. They may characterize it as shooting from the hip, but it is anything but that, which is not to say that …we don’t make mistakes.”
Whether these efforts by Musk and DOGE have broad public support depends on who you ask, and how you ask them.
Per a recent survey by Quinnipiac University, 60 percent of the people allegedly expressed disapproval of “the way Elon Musk and DOGE are dealing with workers employed by the federal government.” However, according to Gallup, “Americans support a reduced role for government.“
